MANCHESTER CITY UNVEILING GAMECHANGING TECH FOR BLIND FANS
BRIEF
IDEA
RESULTS
Have you ever considered the experience of a blind, or partially sighted, supporter at a football match?
Manchester City Football Club is constantly looking for ways to enhance the matchday experience for all supporters, some of whom face significant accessibility challenges. During the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, the club was staging a unique trial with ‘Field of Vision’ – world-first football technology to help blind supporters visualise matches in real time.
We proactively worked with the BBC’s The One Show on an exclusive feature to showcase the technology, and explore the impact this can have on a new generation of fans.
Presenter Amar Latif, himself blind since the age of 18, trialled the technology alongside two Manchester City supporters for whom the ‘Field of Vision’ technology is a game-changer.
The story achieved a 4minute hero feature on BBC’s The One Show, broadcast live to more than 2.5 million viewers. The piece perfectly encapsulated the emotion behind the matchday experience, and showcased Manchester City as leaders in striving for the best fan experience possible for all supporters.
